It had been a few years since I had cruised and I realized, there are so many things that I wanted on the cruise that I had forgotten or didn't even think about whe I was packing. I am hoping that this list will help first time cruisers to feel a little more prepared for the first cruise! This will be a live document that is continuously updated as I cruise more and have more suggestions for you. If you have a suggestions for others that you would like to add, please add to the comment box below
Binoculars - you will love having these, especially if you have a balcony! And once you cruise with a balcony room, you will never want to cruise without it again!
Beach bag - when you are in port, you will be taking beach towels, sunscreen, etc. on the excursions. Just a lightweight bag will help tremendously!
Closed toe hiking shoes/water shoes - come of the excursions on the islands require closed-toe water shoes or hiking shoes. So, if you are adventurous, be sure to pack these!
Insulated water bottle - I don't go anywhere without this! I drink about 120 ounces of water DAILY. It is great to take water off of the ship with you when you are in port. I also used mine a lot when I was on the ship just to have ice cold water in hand when lounging by the pool. On my princess cruise, I purchased the drink package which included bottled water. I was also able to order an ice bucket for the room. The room steward kept it filled for me daily - it was wonderful!
Small Wallet - I find it easier to carry a small wallet with me on excursions instead my regular purse. I only need the essentials - a little case, identification, and a debit or credit card. A cross body style works great because you also have room for your phone and you are not likely to leave it laying when looking at souvenirs!
Waterproof bag - if you are taking a nice camera with you on excursions, you might want something to protect it.
